WIC Digital & AI Academy launches “Digital Port” field study

The World Internet Conference (WIC) Digital & AI Academy launched the "Digital Port" field study on July 21 in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province. The program is part of the Capacity Building on AI-Driven Digital Trade initiative under the 2026 WIC Digital Silk Road Development Forum.

Nearly 50 government officials, business executives and industry professionals from more than 20 countries and regions visited Xi'an Chanba International Port.

Home to China's first inland automated terminal and one of the country's first national logistics hubs for land ports, Xi'an Chanba International Port provided participants with firsthand insights into the digital transformation of global supply chains.

At the China Railway Express (Xi'an) assembly center, participants learned about the port's use of smart customs clearance, intelligent supervision and smart logistics. 

They then visited the Xi'an Chanba Cross-border E-commerce Industrial Park, where they experienced AI-assisted product sourcing and digital supply chain management through simulated livestreaming sessions as "international livestream hosts."

The WIC Digital & AI Academy (WICDA) serves as the WIC's platform for capacity-building cooperation and exchange. It focuses on digital and AI capacity building worldwide, particularly in developing countries. WICDA aims to cultivate digital and AI talent, bridge the digital and AI divide, and ensure that all countries benefit from inclusive development.
