WIC launches working group on digital and intelligent health

The World Internet Conference (WIC) Working Group on Digital and Intelligent Health was officially inaugurated on July 22 at the Digital and Intelligent Health Forum, a featured event of the 2026 WIC Digital Silk Road Development Forum held in Xi'an, Shaanxi province.

The working group is designed to serve as a standing platform for industrial collaboration, bringing together expertise from across the academic, research, industrial and medical communities to advance innovation in medical artificial intelligence and facilitate cross-border cooperation, thereby providing solid support for the global digital and intelligent health industry.

Liang Hao, executive deputy secretary-general of the WIC, serves as its chair. The vice-chairs are Zhang Hui, deputy secretary-general of the WIC; Li Haizhou, executive dean of the School of Data Science at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and a fellow of the Singapore Academy of Engineering; Mao Qun'an, executive vice-president of the Chinese Hospital Association; Hu Jianping, vice-president of the Chinese Health Information and Big Data Association; Wang Aihua, deputy chief engineer of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology; Jiang Xue, deputy Party secretary of Peking University Third Hospital; Wang Yongxiang, vice-president of NVIDIA; Tao Xiaodong, executive director and president of iFlytek Healthcare; and Zhang Junjie, president of Ant Group's health business unit.

The working group has brought together over 70 institutions, enterprises and individual experts, ranging from the International Committee of the Red Cross and Asia Pacific Medical Technology Association, to top-tier hospitals such as Peking University Third Hospital and Shanghai Ruijin Hospital, and leading research universities including Tsinghua University and Renmin University of China. Its industry members include tech giants like Huawei, Alibaba, Tencent, Baidu, Douyin Group and Ant Group, alongside multinational healthcare corporations such as Roche, Bayer, and Siemens.

Together, they create a unique platform for cross-sector dialogue, fostering deeper collaboration across industry, academia, research and healthcare to advance innovation in digital and intelligent health.

Going forward, the working group will leverage the WIC's platform, membership network and global communication channels to promote innovative practices and cross-border learning, host high-level cross-sector dialogue through WIC events, and partner with international think tanks on forward-looking research while amplifying results through global media networks.

It is committed to building a high-level platform for international cooperation, empowering global healthcare with digital and intelligent technologies, and contributing to the shared vision of building a global community of health for all.
