
At the press conference of the 2026 World Internet Conference (WIC) Digital Silk Road Development Forum, Ren Xianliang, secretary-general of the WIC, announced that the forum will take place in Xi'an, Northwest China's Shaanxi province, from July 21 to 22.
Under the theme "Pooling Intelligence on the Silk Road, Embarking on a Digital Future — Jointly Building a Community with a Shared Future in Cyberspace", the forum will feature parallel forums on silk road e-commerce cooperation and development, collaborative innovation and development of AI agents, cultural heritage protection and transmission in the digital-intelligent era, and digital health.
A ministerial meeting, a themed salon on "Copyright Empowerment in Cultural Heritage Digitalization", as well as study and exchange programs, will also be held during the forum.

The World Internet Conference (WIC) was established as an international organization on July 12, 2022, headquartered in Beijing, China. It was jointly initiated by Global System for Mobile Communication Association (GSMA), National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Center of China (CNCERT), China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), Alibaba Group, Tencent, and Zhijiang Lab.
