On June 11, the World Internet Conference (WIC) held the Distinguished Contribution Award & Global Youth Leadership Program Online Briefing Session. The session aimed to showcase WIC programs globally, facilitate exchanges on innovative practices and achievements. More than 200 participants from over 50 countries and regions joined the session online, representing enterprises, international organizations, universities, research institutions, and youth communities, helping to foster a platform for international exchange and collaboration.

During the briefing, representatives of the WIC Secretariat introduced the 2026 WIC Distinguished Contribution Award, and provided an overview of the award positioning and categories, application procedures and evaluation mechanism. Representatives of previous award-winning enterprises were invited to share their insights on corporate development and their experience of receiving the Award. 

Zou Ting, Arm’s Vice President of China Business, shared how the company advances green, low-carbon development through technological innovation and continues to create social value. Dr. Rabia Khattak, Head of Diversity and Inclusion at Jazz, introduced the company’s achievements in promoting local social inclusion through digital technologies.

The session also featured an introduction to the WIC Global Youth Leadership Program, covering its program positioning, application requirements, timeline, and participation process. 

Former participants were invited to share their experiences and gains from international exchanges, cooperation, and practical engagement in digital development. 

Rachida El Rhdioui from Morocco and Nuriddin Samatov from Uzbekistan joined the discussion, exchanging views on topics such as youth participation in global digital governance and the promotion of sustainable development.

In addition, the session highlighted recent progress made by the WIC Digital and Intelligent Health Working Group, and engaged with participants on the working group’s vision and positioning, key priorities and participation pathways. During the Q&A session, WIC Secretariat officials responded online to questions from participants.

Participants noted that the briefing deepened their understanding of WIC’s flagship initiatives and participation mechanisms, offering a valuable platform and practical reference for enterprises, institutions and young professionals to engage in international exchanges, cooperation, and the shared pursuit of opportunities in digital development.

WIC will continue to leverage its strengths as an international organization, pool global innovation resources, advance open cooperation, and further promote the building of a community with a shared future in cyberspace.

The World Internet Conference (WIC) was established as an international organization on July 12, 2022, headquartered in Beijing, China. It was jointly initiated by Global System for Mobile Communication Association (GSMA), National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Center of China (CNCERT), China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), Alibaba Group, Tencent, and Zhijiang Lab.
