The AI Security and Governance Forum was held in Hong Kong on April 14, as part of the 2026 World Internet Conference (WIC) Asia-Pacific Summit.

Distinguished guests attending were Francis Gurry, vice-chair of the WIC and former director-general of the World Intellectual Property Organization; Wu Dong, chief engineer of the Cyberspace Administration of China; and Daniel Cheung, acting commissioner for digital policy of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

The forum — themed on AI Security Governance, Safeguarding a New Area of Human — focused on key issues including AI governance approaches, technological risk mitigation, and international cooperation mechanisms. 

Participants exchanged views on emerging trends and challenges in AI security governance, and explored practical, sustainable and actionable pathways for global collaboration.

The forum brought together expertise from across the Asia-Pacific region, contributing to efforts to strengthen the global AI governance framework and shape a shared vision of the future.

The forum was organized by the CNCERT/CC, Zhongguancun Laboratory, and CACS, with support from Sangfor Technologies Inc., CERNET Co., Ltd., and Hygon Information Technology Co., Ltd.

The World Internet Conference (WIC) was established as an international organization on July 12, 2022, headquartered in Beijing, China. It was jointly initiated by Global System for Mobile Communication Association (GSMA), National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Center of China (CNCERT), China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), Alibaba Group, Tencent, and Zhijiang Lab.
