WIPO senior policy officer Garrett Levin: IP system is unseen heart of global finance
Addressing the Digital Finance Forum of the 2026 World Internet Conference Asia-Pacific Summit, Garrett Levin, senior policy officer of the IP and Frontier Technologies Division, Infrastructure and Platforms Sector of the World Intellectual Property Organization, made some insightful observations.
He highlighted the fact that the intellectual property system governing the creation and protection of intangible asset value is the unseen and undervalued beating heart of today's global financial system.
The World Internet Conference (WIC) was established as an international organization on July 12, 2022, headquartered in Beijing, China. It was jointly initiated by Global System for Mobile Communication Association (GSMA), National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Center of China (CNCERT), China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), Alibaba Group, Tencent, and Zhijiang Lab.
