Top scientist urges global collaboration on brain-computer interface development

Ahead of next week's Zhongguancun Forum, a leading scientist in brain-computer interface research and development took the opportunity to urge global collaboration.

Luo Minmin is the director of the Chinese Institute for Brain Research in Beijing, which will release its new Beinao-2 model at the forum.

In an interview with China Daily, he highlighted the global efforts being made to develop BCI technology, saying, "While the United States has a longer history in this field, Europe is also making significant strides, and China is particularly focused on developing invasive BCI technologies."

Luo pointed out the technology's potential to support people who are paralyzed or have suffered a stroke. He sees an urgent need for innovative solutions.

As a representative of a public research institute, Luo stressed the importance of viewing BCI development not as a commercial competition but as an opportunity for international collaboration. "Europe, the US, and China should work together to develop better products for society as a whole," Luo stated, urging the brain science community to unite in bringing new hope to patients worldwide.
