At the March 17 press briefing, Sun Dong, secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, expressed appreciation to the World Internet Conference (WIC) for selecting Hong Kong as the host city of the WIC Asia-Pacific Summit once again. The summit, he noted, reflects a key initiative under the China's 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30) to advance digital transformation and deepen high-standard opening-up.
He said that the Hong Kong government looks forward to working with the WIC to develop the WIC Asia-Pacific Summit into the most influential regional innovation and technology event, accelerating Hong Kong’s development into an international innovation and technology hub and driving high-quality innovation-driven growth across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, China, the Asia-Pacific region, and the world.
The World Internet Conference (WIC) was established as an international organization on July 12, 2022, headquartered in Beijing, China. It was jointly initiated by Global System for Mobile Communication Association (GSMA), National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Center of China (CNCERT), China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), Alibaba Group, Tencent, and Zhijiang Lab.
