Social Contribution award-winning enterprise: AgriPredict Solutions

Rooted in real needs, serving broad farming community

AgriPredict Solutions is an agri-tech company based in Zambia, dedicated to addressing long-standing information gaps faced by smallholder farmers through the use of digital technologies.

Confronted with the realities of limited network coverage and low penetration of smart devices in rural areas, the company has placed inclusiveness at the core of its approach.

By building a digital platform accessible through both USSD and Android applications, AgriPredict Solutions enables farmers in even the most remote regions to conveniently access essential agricultural information.

Empowering agricultural decision-making through technology

Powered by artificial intelligence and machine learning, AgriPredict Solutions delivers a comprehensive suite of digital services that spans the entire agricultural production cycle.

These include localized weather forecasts, early warnings of pests and diseases, market information linkages, digital agricultural extensions and support for agricultural input distribution networks.

Together, they help farmers make more informed decisions at critical moments — improving productivity, reducing risks and strengthening resilience to external shocks.

Innovation driven by challenges in the field

The company’s approach is grounded in a deep understanding of real-world agricultural challenges. Founded in 2019, AgriPredict Solutions traces its origins back to field research conducted in the aftermath of the Fall Armyworm outbreak in 2018, a widespread destructive maize crop pest infestation that spread beyond Africa into Southeast Asia.

Through direct engagement with hundreds of farmers, the team recognized that isolated technological tools were insufficient to address the complexity of agricultural systems. This insight led to a shift toward farmer-centered, systematic solutions — gradually shaping an integrated model that combines technology, services and a broader ecosystem.

Scaled impact, sustainable business model

Today, AgriPredict Solutions operates across all 10 provinces of Zambia, serving more than 350,000 users and having recorded 16 million interactions on its platform to date.

The company keeps its core services free for farmers, while achieving long-term sustainability by providing value-added data and digital services to upstream and downstream actors in the agricultural value chain. This model allows AgriPredict Solutions to balance social impact with commercial viability.

Advancing inclusive growth, sustainable development

AgriPredict Solutions puts particular emphasis on gender equality, youth participation and climate resilience.

Its low-barrier digital platform significantly reduces information access constraints for women farmers, while also attracting young people to participate in agricultural transformation through technology.

By promoting climate-smart agricultural services, AgriPredict Solutions is seen to be actively contributing to the development of a more stable, inclusive and sustainable national food system.
