At the press conference for the 2025 World Internet Conference Digital Silk Road Development Forum, Zhang Yan, head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Fujian Provincial Committee, highlighted Fujian's continued efforts to deepen economic and trade cooperation with countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.

From January to April this year, outbound investment from Fujian to Belt and Road countries totaled $ 920 million, accounting for 27 percent of the province's total outbound investment during the same period, according to Zhang.

Zhang also introduced several key initiatives aimed at boosting cross-border commerce. These include piloting a "whitelist" system for enterprises engaged in cross-border e-commerce, market procurement, and  overseas Chinese businesses collective procurement, with 12 enterprises included in the first list.

The World Internet Conference (WIC) was established as an international organization on July 12, 2022, headquartered in Beijing, China. It was jointly initiated by Global System for Mobile Communication Association (GSMA), National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Center of China (CNCERT), China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), Alibaba Group, Tencent, and Zhijiang Lab.
