Ren Xianliang, secretary-general of the World Internet Conference (WIC), outlined the threefold approach of the WIC to advance the Digital Silk Road development at the news conference for the 2025 WIC Digital Silk Road Development Forum, which will be held in Quanzhou, East China's Fujian province, on July 24.

Ren noted that the forum focuses on strengthening cooperation in key areas such as digital trade and smart transport under the Belt and Road Initiative, enhancing digital skills training through the WIC Digital Academy, and promoting inclusive global digital governance.

By amplifying the voices of developing countries and building accessible digital capacity pathways, the WIC aims to ensure the benefits of the digital economy reach every corner of the Digital Silk Road, Ren said.

The World Internet Conference (WIC) was established as an international organization on July 12, 2022, headquartered in Beijing, China. It was jointly initiated by Global System for Mobile Communication Association (GSMA), National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Center of China (CNCERT), China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), Alibaba Group, Tencent, and Zhijiang Lab.
