The Workshop on AI Governance and Sustainable Development: for Good and for All was convened in Hong Kong during the World Internet Conference (WIC) Asia-Pacific Summit on April 14. The event brought together global experts to discuss the implemention of recommendations from the newly released report, Governing AI for Good and for All—Empowering Global Sustainable Development.

The workshop aimed to accelerate actionable solutions for integrating AI into sustainability agendas while fostering international consensus. Discussions primarily focused on four key priorities: promoting balanced AI-driven sustainable development, enhancing AI inclusivity and accessibility globally, collaborating with low- and middle-income countries on affordable capacity-building, and strengthening multilateral coordination in AI governance.

The World Internet Conference (WIC) was established as an international organization on July 12, 2022, headquartered in Beijing, China. It was jointly initiated by Global System for Mobile Communication Association (GSMA), National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Center of China (CNCERT), China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), Alibaba Group, Tencent, and Zhijiang Lab.
