Sun Dong, secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, announced that Hong Kong has been selected as the host city for the upcoming Asia-Pacific Summit, a significant event under the World Internet Conference, at a press briefing on March 17.
Sun said this decision highlights Hong Kong's vital role as a bridge connecting China and the world, saying the summit will serve as a platform for high-level exchanges, dialogue, and collaboration in the fields of innovation and technology. It will reinforce Hong Kong’s position as a leading international innovation and technology hub.

The World Internet Conference (WIC) was established as an international organization on July 12, 2022, headquartered in Beijing, China. It was jointly initiated by Global System for Mobile Communication Association (GSMA), National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Center of China (CNCERT), China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), Alibaba Group, Tencent, and Zhijiang Lab.
