The World Internet Conference (WIC) will host the WIC Asia-Pacific Summit at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from April 14 to 15. At a press conference in Beijing on Monday, Ren Xianliang, secretary-general of the WIC said that hosting the summit in Hong Kong comes at highly timely moment.
Ren highlighted Hong Kong's two recent developments in February, the launch of its first large-scale AI model by the Hong Kong Generative AI Research and Development Center unveiled and the government of Hong Kong Special Adminstrative Region HKSAR announcement of plans to establish the Hong Kong AI Research and Development Institute.
The WIC anticipates facilitating deeper exchanges and collaboration in cyberspace in Hong Kong, sharing the fruitful results brought by digital and intelligent development, Ren said.

The World Internet Conference (WIC) was established as an international organization on July 12, 2022, headquartered in Beijing, China. It was jointly initiated by Global System for Mobile Communication Association (GSMA), National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Center of China (CNCERT), China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), Alibaba Group, Tencent, and Zhijiang Lab.
