Artificial intelligence (AI) development should be sustainable, energy-efficient, and benefits the wider public, Jiang Tao, co-founder and senior vice-president of iFLYTEK, said at the AI Computing Power Development Forum on March 4, a sieline event during the 2025 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
"There are major players like OpenAI, Google, Meta, and XAI in the United States, while China has both established tech giants and emerging technology companies like DeepSeek. The competition is intense, driving rapid advancements in AI," Jiang said. As a key player in China's AI industry, iFLYTEK has been actively exploring ways to optimize AI models while leveraging domestic computing power, he added.
During the AI Action Summit in Paris this February, participants highlighted the significant impact of AI in education and healthcare—two sectors that iFLYTEK has focused on for years, Jiang said.
In education, iFLYTEK’s AI-powered learning devices assist students by grading assignments like a human teacher and identifying learning gaps to improve efficiency. In healthcare, iFLYTEK's AI systems can assist with medical consultations, analyze health check-up reports, and provide medication guidance, according to Jiang.
Jiang added that iFLYTEK has partnered with China Mobile to develop the "5G New Call" application, which automatically generates call summaries and forms to-do lists. Since its launch nine months ago, the app has gained over two million users, he noted.
