The 2024 Global Development Initiative Digital Cooperation Forum was held in Wuzhen, East China’s Zhejiang province, on Nov 21, as one of the 24 sub-forums of the 2024 World Internet Conference Wuzhen Summit.
The chair's statement released after the forum praised the progress made by the China-proposed Global Development Initiative (GDI) in promoting the building of a community with a shared future for mankind and accelerating the achievement of sustainable development goals.
The statement outlined the challenges and issues arising from global digital cooperation. It called for strengthening inclusive cooperation for sustainable development of digital economy, advancing digital governance process and fostering an open and inclusive digital landscape, and deepening exchanges and mutual learning to create a better digital future to address the situations.
The statement proposed nine countermeasures to address international concerns and further consolidate consensus and momentum for digital cooperation under the GDI framework. It also offered China's approach and insights for global digital governance and collaboration.
The forum brought together more than 150 representatives from governments, United Nations agencies, international organizations, research institutions, industry associations and enterprises.
Participants had in-depth exchanges on global digital cooperation issues of common interest under the theme "Jointly Usher in a New Stage of Digital Cooperation and Design a New Blueprint for Global Development".
The forum, co-hosted by the Cyberspace Administration of China, the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) and the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA), aims to promote balanced, coordinated, and inclusive global development, and jointly build a community with a shared future in cyberspace.

The World Internet Conference (WIC) was established as an international organization on July 12, 2022, headquartered in Beijing, China. It was jointly initiated by Global System for Mobile Communication Association (GSMA), National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Center of China (CNCERT), China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), Alibaba Group, Tencent, and Zhijiang Lab.
