Information Meeting of WIC Awards & Practice Cases held in Beijing

The information meeting of the 2024 World Internet Conference Awards for Pioneering Science and Technology (WIC Awards) and Practice Cases of Jointly Building a Community with a Shared Future in Cyberspace (Practice Cases) was held in Beijing on April 9. More than 170 representatives from government departments, enterprises, universities, and think tanks attended the meeting.

The WIC Awards and Practice Cases are two major events of the World Internet Conference (WIC) Wuzhen Summit, engaging in promoting global technological innovation in the internet field, strengthening international exchanges and cooperation, and advancing the building of a community with a shared future in cyberspace.

During the meeting, the Secretariat of the WIC provided a comprehensive introduction to the solicitation targets, evaluation criteria, and preparation work for the two events in 2024. Previous WIC Awards recipients such as China Unicom, Tsinghua University, and IBM Corporation, along with past Outstanding Cases presenters such as the National Library and Alibaba Group, shared their application experiences on-site.

The Q&A session in the meeting facilitated extensive exchange and discussion. Participants further recognized the important role of WIC in building a global platform for extensive consultation, joint contribution, and shared benefits in the internet field. They expressed active intentions to participate in relevant activities organized by the WIC, continuously make efforts on technological innovation and exchange cooperation in the field of the Internet, and jointly transition a mere conceptual framework to a series of actionable initiatives and a visionary to concrete realization.

The submission for the 2024 WIC Awards and 2024 Practice Cases is open until June 20. The annual WIC awards and outstanding cases will be selected by the international review committee, released at the 2024 WIC Wuzhen Summit, and promoted through diverse media platforms in multiple languages.
