Ren Xianliang, secretary-general of the World Internet Conference (WIC), led a team to conduct survey on cross-border e-commerce in Guangzhou and Shenzhen, South China's Guangdong province. He was seeking an in-depth understanding of the development of cross-border e-commerce business in Guangdong.

The survey team paid a visit to the China (Shenzhen) cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot zone (referred to as Shenzhen pilot zone), Shenzhen Cross-Border E-Commerce Association, and other key players in the sector.

The team held multiple discussions and exchanges with the hosts on policies and measures to promote the development of cross-border e-commerce, practical experiences in the sector, and the challenges it faces.

The team acknowledged that Guangdong has demonstrated significant advantages in the development of the cross-border e-commerce in recent years. Among others, the Shenzhen pilot zone has been promoting institutional innovation, improving public services, and optimizing the business environment, so as to promote world-class cross-border e-commerce both in terms of scale and quality.

The team found that the cross-border e-commerce markets in Guangzhou and Shenzhen are vibrant and diverse, with enterprises seeking innovative business development models and exploring new paths for international cooperation.

Ren said that in the context of continuous global economic downturn, cross-border e-commerce has emerged as a new engine in global economic development, driving transformation in global trade.

He noted that Guangdong has great industrial, ecological, and innovation advantages, and can play a guiding role and share successful experiences to jointly promote sustainable cross-border e-commerce.

Representatives from the WIC Working Group on Cross-Border E-commerce participated in this survey. The working group is dedicated to building an international dialogue and cooperation platform, promoting and disseminating best practices for fostering the development of cross-border e-commerce. Efforts will be dedicated to propelling the establishment of an open, fair and inclusive international regulatory framework for cross-border e-commerce.
