China's generative artificial intelligence market is poised to exceed 10 trillion yuan ($1.4 trillion) in terms of market scale this year, said CCID Consulting, a government think tank under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on Thursday.

Generative AI basically refers to an AI category that focuses on creating systems capable of generating new and original content autonomously. It is one of the key technologies behind ChatGPT.

CCID Consulting predicted that by 2035, generative AI would contribute nearly 90 trillion yuan to the global economy. China, as a frontrunner in the adoption and development of AI technologies, will contribute about 40 percent of the total.
