The 2023 World Internet Conference Wuzhen Summit held its plenary meeting in Wuzhen, East China's Zhejiang province, on Nov 8, 2023.
Zhuang Rongwen, minister of the Cyberspace Administration of China and chair of the World Internet Conference (WIC), attended the meeting and delivered a keynote speech. Francis Gurry, vice-chair of the WIC, also gave a speech. Wang Hao, deputy secretary of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee and governor of Zhejiang, along with Wang Song and Wang Jingtao, vice-ministers of the Cyberspace Administration of China, were in attendance. The meeting was presided over by Ren Xianliang, secretary-general of the WIC.
Notable speakers at the plenary meeting included U Maung Maung Ohn, minister of Information of Myanmar; Arvind Krishna, chairman and CEO of IBM; Yang Jie, chairman of China Mobile; Wu Yongming, CEO of Alibaba; Zhao Jiazhen, executive director and co-chief executive of Shanghai Xunmeng Information Technology Co., Ltd.; Mohamed Benamor, secretary-general of the Arab Information and Communication Technologies Organization; Zhou Hongyi, founder of the 360 Security Group; Yang Yuanqing, chairman and CEO of Lenovo; Wu Hequan, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Zhang Yaqin, member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences; Kilnam Chon, father of internet in South Korea and honorary professor at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology; and Nii Quaynor, chairman of Ghana Dot Com (GDC).
During the meeting, Zhuang, Gurry, and Ren presented honorary commemorative cups to winners of the Wuzhen Summit 10-Year Commemorative Honor and issued certificates to the first group of Youth Leaders of the Global Youth Leadership Program.
