On September 26, Chair Zhuang Rongwen had a working meeting with Vice Chair Francis Gurry in Beijing. They exchanged views on the future direction of the international organization of the WIC and how to make the 2023 Wuzhen Summit a success. Secretary-General Ren Xianliang was also present at the meeting. 

Zhuang Rongwen spoke highly of Francis Gurry's outstanding contributions to the organization and development of the Wuzhen Summit as well as the development of WIC over the years. He said that the WIC, as an international organization, need to have a long-term vision, hold regional and thematic forums and events in an innovative fashion, introduce a series of public goods, and deepen the exchanges in cyberspace and global cooperation in the digital field. 

Francis Gurry said that after ten years of development, the Wuzhen Summit has become one of the most important Internet exchange and cooperation platforms in the world. He said that as the vice chair of the WIC, he is willing to make great efforts to promote the development of the WIC and help build a global Internet platform for extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits.

The World Internet Conference (WIC) was established as an international organization on July 12, 2022, headquartered in Beijing, China. It was jointly initiated by Global System for Mobile Communication Association (GSMA), National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Center of China (CNCERT), China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), Alibaba Group, Tencent, and Zhijiang Lab.
