John Hoffman, CEO of the Global System for Mobile Communications Association, called for joint efforts to establish a trusted environment for artificial intelligence to benefit everyone.
In this new era of digital transformation connectivity is key, and 5G is the greatest enabler across economies empowering AI, IoT and big data, he said.
He added China leads the way in 5G with the highest number of 5G base stations globally. It is projected by 2025, China will become the first country to surpass one billion 5G connections.
Many organizations worldwide have already begun utilizing AI to enhance predictive capabilities, optimize their operations and provide personalized digital solutions.
Recent estimates suggest by 2030, AI could contribute over $15 trillion to the global economy, he added.
He concluded it is crucial to establish a people-centered, risk-based approach ensuring AI is reliable, responsible, and fair for everyone.
The World Internet Conference (WIC) was established as an international organization on July 12, 2022, headquartered in Beijing, China. It was jointly initiated by Global System for Mobile Communication Association (GSMA), National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Center of China (CNCERT), China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), Alibaba Group, Tencent, and Zhijiang Lab.
