The World Internet Conference (WIC) held an information meeting to continue calling for the submission of the 2023 World Leading Internet Scientific and Technological Achievements and 2023 Practice Cases of Jointly Building a Community with a Shared Future in Cyberspace, in Beijing, on May 23.

The meeting was chaired by Liang Hao, executive vice secretary-general of the WIC, with representatives from over 30 members of the WIC, and government departments, embassies in China, business associations, and industrial institutions.

During the meeting, China Telecom, Ericsson, and Kaspersky as previous recipients of the World Leading Internet Scientific and Technological Achievements, also the previously release units of practice cases like SAP, Cainiao Network Technology, and the Fu Xi Institution shared their specific experiences in the application process.  

The year 2023 marks the 10th year of the WIC Wuzhen Summit. To this end, this year’s call has been upgraded, including three types of achievements for the first time: basic research, key technologies, and engineering research and development.

The submitted practice cases are also required to fall into one of five categories: network infrastructure construction, online cultural exchanges, innovative development of the digital economy, cybersecurity guarantee, and the international cyberspace governance.

The solicitation is open to government departments, international organizations, social groups, research institutes, universities, technical communities, enterprises, and innovative teams worldwide.

The solicitation will end on June 21.

The individuals and organizations that are selected will be invited to participate in the showcase events during the 2023 WIC Wuzhen Summit.

The Release of World Leading Internet Scientific and Technological Achievements is a highlight of the WIC Wuzhen Summit, aiming to lead frontier innovation and advocate technological exchanges and cooperation. It has played an active role in the world's Internet scientific and technological development, noted Liang. The Release and Presentation of Outstanding Cases of Jointly Building a Community with a Shared Future in Cyberspace, which has been held for two consecutive years since 2021, is an integral part of the summit and a crucial platform to promote international exchanges and cooperation in cyberspace, as well as in building a community with a shared future in cyberspace.

The World Internet Conference (WIC) was established as an international organization on July 12, 2022, headquartered in Beijing, China. It was jointly initiated by Global System for Mobile Communication Association (GSMA), National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Center of China (CNCERT), China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), Alibaba Group, Tencent, and Zhijiang Lab.
