In 2023, the World Internet Conference (WIC) Wuzhen Summit will welcome its tenth year. To prepare for this summit, the WIC held an expert symposium on March 29 in Beijing, inviting well-known experts and scholars among the WIC members to provide opinions and suggestions on the summit's theme, topics, and highlight activities.

Ren Xianliang, the secretary-general of the WIC, presided over the symposium.

The symposium was held both online and offline. On site or via live links, the following well-known experts and scholars delivered speeches: Wu Hequan, former vice president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering(CAE) and academician of the CAE; Louis Pouzin, inductee of the Internet Hall of Fame who is also known as the "Father of the French Internet"; Wu Jianping, chair professor at Tsinghua University, director of the Zhongguancun Laboratory, academician of the CAE, and inductee of the Internet Hall of Fame; Kilnam Chon, inductee of the Internet Hall of Fame who is also known as the "Father of the South Korean Internet"; Sihan Bo Chen, president of the Greater China at the Global System for Mobile Communications Association; Luigi Gambardella, president of China EU; and Gao Xinmin, member of the advisory committee of the Internet Society of China.

Based on the governance situation in the Internet technology industry and its development trends, the participating experts provided valuable opinions and suggestions on the theme and topics of this year's summit, as well as highlight and commemorative activities marking the tenth year of the WIC. This will enable the summit to reflect the common concerns of the global Internet community more comprehensively, fully leverage the positive role of the summit as a platform for extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits[1] , and work more closely with all parties to build a community with a shared future in cyberspace.

The participating experts unanimously expressed that the WIC Wuzhen Summit, after ten years of development, has grown into an important platform for extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits as well as for cooperation and exchange in the digital economy. They look forward to witnessing this year's WIC Wuzhen Summit presented as a magnificent and remarkable global event in the field of the internet by the WIC international organization.

After listening to the opinions and suggestions of the experts, Ren pointed out that this year is the tenth year of the summit and is of commemorative significance. In order to present a fruitful and distinctive summit, the secretariat of the WIC is working hard to plan relevant programs. Ren thanked the experts for their strong support and sincerely invited them to gather in Wuzhen during the summit to discuss the development of the Internet technology, industry, and governance and jointly build the WIC Wuzhen Summit into an exchange and cooperation platform.
