The Secretariat of the WIC briefed attendees on the GDC's background, latest progress and research proposals.
More than 30 experts from over 15 global leading internet enterprises and research institutions, including Alibaba, Tencent, Qualcomm and IBM, attended the symposium.
During the meeting, the attendees, from their own perspectives, suggested the proposal's goals, core principles and concrete actions, focusing on such issues as data protection, internet fragmentation prevention, artificial intelligence regulation, accountability standards for discriminatory and misleading content, as well as digital public products.
The WIC will adhere to the principle of building a global internet platform for extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits, and conduct in-depth research based on the ideas of all parties. It will form a joint proposal after fully considering the members' initiatives and building consensus among them, which will be submitted to the Office of the UN Secretary-General's Envoy on Technology, in a bid to enable people around the world to share the opportunities brought by digital development.
The symposium was supported by the China Academy of Information and Communication Technology.
All parties are welcome to participate in the proposal work on the GDC. Please submit your suggestions on the aforementioned issues in written form.
Please contact us before Mar 7.
