Ren Xianliang, secretary-general of the World Internet Conference (WIC), met with John Hoffman, CEO of the Global System for Mobile Communications Alliance (GSMA), on the sidelines of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2023 in Barcelona, Spain, on Feb 28 local time.

Ren conveyed greetings from Zhuang Rongwen, chair of the WIC, to John Hoffman, gave his congratulations on the successful holding of MWC 2023, and expressed his thanks for GSMA's support.
Ren said that, after traversing the side effects brought about by COVID-19, he was glad to see the MWC successfully gather global communication operators, equipment manufacturers, mobile ecosystem enterprises and relevant officials from government departments at this grand event in Barcelona. It fully indicates the strong driving force behind the development of the mobile communication industry and its vital role in promoting the robust development of the global digital economy.
Ren noted that the WIC has always been dedicated to building a community with a shared future in cyberspace and delivering more internet-based benefits to people around the world.
The WIC, an international organization registered in China, is willing to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the GSMA in a bid to work together to build a brighter future through digital development that will benefit people around the globe. Ren warmly invited John Hoffman to attend activities celebrating the WIC's 10th anniversary, which will be held in Tongxiang, East China's Zhejiang province, in the second half of this year.

John Hoffman extended his warm welcome to Ren Xiangliang, who led the Chinese delegation to attend the MWC 2023, saying that the huge Chinese mobile internet market plays an indispensable role in the development of global 5G technology. He added that, at present, Chinese enterprises are playing an important and leading role in the industry, saying that the new Chinese technologies and products unveiled during the MWC 2023 in Barcelona are impressive.
Hoffman expressed his thanks for Ren's invitation to attend the 2023 WIC Wuzhen Summit, adding that, since the first summit held in 2014, the WIC Wuzhen Summit has become an international summit of great importance in the global internet filed, playing an active role in facilitating exchanges and cooperation among governments, international organizations, multinational enterprises, and technical communities. The GSMA is willing to further strengthen cooperation with the WIC and to work together to facilitate the robust development of the industry, he said.
The World Internet Conference (WIC) was established as an international organization on July 12, 2022, headquartered in Beijing, China. It was jointly initiated by Global System for Mobile Communication Association (GSMA), National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Center of China (CNCERT), China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), Alibaba Group, Tencent, and Zhijiang Lab.
