At the 2025 World Internet Conference (WIC) Wuzhen Summit, youth representative Samuel Mc Knight delivered an inspiring message on the role of young people in shaping the digital future. As a member of the Global Youth Leadership Program (GYLP), Samuel called for greater compassion, collaboration, and open-mindedness in the digital age.
He believes that technology should serve as a bridge — connecting people, not dividing them. "Be kinder, be critical, and always be open to learning," he said, emphasizing that empathy and critical reflection are essential for building a shared and inclusive cyberspace.
Samuel also pointed out how many young innovators around the world are creating change from the ground up, showing that even small-scale initiatives can lead to significant global impact. He added that platforms like the WIC are vital for bringing young minds together, allowing them to share experiences, learn from one another, and collaborate toward a common goal.
Reflecting on the summit’s theme of building a community with a shared future in cyberspace, Samuel highlighted that the next generation must take the lead in steering technology evolution. Through connection and cooperation, he envisions a digital future where every voice matters and every effort contributes to the common good.
