
The opening ceremony of the 2025 World Internet Conference (WIC) was held on Nov 7 in the ancient water town of Wuzhen, East China's Zhejiang province.
This year's summit has attracted over 1,600 participants from more than 130 countries and regions, including leaders of international organizations, representatives from leading internet companies, and experts and scholars.
The ceremony featured a series of inspiring speeches that received enthusiastic applause from the audience.
Raïssa Malu Dinanga, minister of National Education and New Citizenship for the Democratic Republic of the Congo, emphasized the importance of shared responsibility and cooperation in cyberspace. Daren Tang, director general of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), highlighted the expanding opportunities for creative industries in the digital economy. John Hoffman, CEO of GSMA, underscored the role of innovation, collaboration, and trust in building a smarter, safer, and more inclusive digital future. Liu Qiangdong, founder and chairman of JD.com, expressed optimism about the era of AI and robotics, predicting that China’s social logistics costs could drop significantly within the next five years. Wu Yongming, CEO of Alibaba Group, highlighted breakthroughs in AI-driven global intelligence, the rapid industrialization of AI, and the opening of the intelligent era.





The World Internet Conference (WIC) was established as an international organization on July 12, 2022, headquartered in Beijing, China. It was jointly initiated by Global System for Mobile Communication Association (GSMA), National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Center of China (CNCERT), China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), Alibaba Group, Tencent, and Zhijiang Lab.
