The First Council of the World Internet Conference (WIC) held its 8th session in Wuzhen, East China’s Zhejiang province, on Nov 6. The meeting was chaired by Zhuang Rongwen, chair of the WIC and director of the Cyberspace Administration of China.
The meeting reviewed and adopted the World Internet Conference 2025 Annual Work Report, and approved the establishment of two new specialized committees — the Specialized Committee on Digitalization of Cultural Heritage and the Specialized Committee on E-commerce. It also confirmed the addition of new leadership members to the Specialized Committee on Artificial Intelligence and approved a list of proposed new members of the WIC.
Since its establishment in July 2022, the WIC has made steady progress in institutional and mechanism development, enhanced exchanges and cooperation, and delivered research outcomes, with growing recognition and influence across sectors. These efforts have laid a solid foundation for its long-term development and contributed to advancing global internet progress and building a community with a shared future in cyberspace.
