The World Internet Conference (WIC) held a briefing session for the 2025 WIC Distinguished Contribution Award in Beijing Phoenix Center on May 29. Nearly 100 corporate representatives attended the event.

During the session, Zhang Hui, deputy secretary-general of the WIC provided an overview of the organization and explained the submission process, selection criteria and other requirements for the enterprise category of the award. He encouraged attendees to actively submit applications that exemplify leadership in the internet sector and contribute to industry ecosystem development.

Attendees stated that the briefing session enhanced their understanding of the award, confirming they would explore practices in relevant fields to prepare submissions. 

Launched in 2024, the WIC Distinguished Contribution Award recognizes individuals and enterprises that have made exceptional contributions to the global internet sector. The award celebrates the outstanding efforts that drive the advancement of the internet, motivating global stakeholders to jointly build a community with a shared future in cyberspace.

The World Internet Conference (WIC) was established as an international organization on July 12, 2022, headquartered in Beijing, China. It was jointly initiated by Global System for Mobile Communication Association (GSMA), National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Center of China (CNCERT), China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), Alibaba Group, Tencent, and Zhijiang Lab.
