A delegation from the World Internet Conference (WIC) Secretariat visited Hong Kong from May 25 to 27 to meet with representatives from the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the Innovation, Technology and Industry Bureau, and the Education Bureau.

Discussions with these bodies focused on deepening cooperation between the WIC and Hong Kong. 

Hong Kong representatives spoke highly of the 2025 World Internet Conference Asia-Pacific Summit, which was held in Hong Kong from April 14 to 15. They expressed strong willingness to enhance practical collaboration with the WIC moving forward.

A senior official from the WIC Secretariat highlighted the WIC's commitment to leveraging its high-level international platform to support Hong Kong's development in frontier technologies and related sectors.

The 2025 WIC Asia-Pacific Summit, themed on "Integration of AI and Digital Technologies Shaping the Future - Jointly Building a Community with a Shared Future in Cyberspace," brought together nearly 1,000 guests from over 50 countries and regions, including representatives from government agencies, international organizations, enterprises, civil society groups, and academia.

The World Internet Conference (WIC) was established as an international organization on July 12, 2022, headquartered in Beijing, China. It was jointly initiated by Global System for Mobile Communication Association (GSMA), National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Center of China (CNCERT), China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), Alibaba Group, Tencent, and Zhijiang Lab.
