VILNIUS -- Lithuania will establish a national artificial intelligence (AI) center, dubbed the "AI Factory," to accelerate the development of AI infrastructure and innovation, the Ministry of Economy and Innovation said Wednesday.

The government has approved the ministry's proposal to launch the 100 million euros (113.44 million U.S. dollars) project.

Half of the funding is expected to come from the European Commission, while the Lithuanian state will contribute up to 50 million euros, with additional support anticipated from private sector partners. (1 euro = 1.13 U.S. dollar)

The World Internet Conference (WIC) was established as an international organization on July 12, 2022, headquartered in Beijing, China. It was jointly initiated by Global System for Mobile Communication Association (GSMA), National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Center of China (CNCERT), China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), Alibaba Group, Tencent, and Zhijiang Lab.
