Lu Haina

Member, UN Working Group on Discrimination against Women and Girls

Lu Haina was elected as a member of the Working Group on discrimination against women and girls under the United Nations Human Rights Special Procedures in October, 2023 at the 54th regular session of the UN Human Rights Council. Lu is currently the only Chinese expert among the 83 independent experts serving in the UN Human Rights Special Procedures and the second Chinese expert elected to the position since its establishment in 1967. In 2021, she published Big Data, AI and Women's Rights to Work, the first monograph in China to explore AI from gender and legal perspectives. The book was selected by the All-China Federation of Trade Unions as one of the ten recommended reads for female workers under the 2024 Rose Fragrance reading program. Lu has also contributed to the formulation of the Outline for Women's Development in China (2021-2030) and the Outline on the Development of Chinese Children (2021-2030).

The World Internet Conference (WIC) was established as an international organization on July 12, 2022, headquartered in Beijing, China. It was jointly initiated by Global System for Mobile Communication Association (GSMA), National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Center of China (CNCERT), China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), Alibaba Group, Tencent, and Zhijiang Lab.
