WIC·MIC salon explores women's empowerment in Beijing

The third WIC·MIC salon, hosted by the World Internet Conference (WIC) Digital Academy and organized by Ant Group, was held in Beijing on Thursday. Themed on "Digital Empowerment: Women's Career Development," the event attracted over 80 representatives from embassies, international organizations, government agencies, and WIC members from eight countries.

The salon featured insightful discussions among distinguished speakers, including Wang Xiaojing, General Manager of Corporate Social Responsibility at Ant Group and the Secretary-General of the Ant Foundation; Lu Haina, Member of the UN Working Group on discrimination against women and girls, Professor at the Renmin University of China Law School; Liu Shimin, Research Fellow at the Institute for Strategic Studies, University of International Business and Economics; Bu Wei, Research Fellow at the Institute of Journalism and Communication, Board Member of Chinese Women's Research Society; Jiao Meng, Deputy Director of China Development Gateway, China Internet Information Center; and Zhang Yue, Media Practitioner. 

The speakers offered unique insights into advancing women's development and examined how digital technology can foster their growth.

Launched in November 2024, the WIC Digital Academy aims to serve as a global internet-based capacity-building platform for governments, social organizations, and corporate leaders, particularly those from developing countries. It is dedicated to empowering countries and enterprises in their digital transformation, closing global digital divide, and promoting inclusive development.

As part of the WIC Digital Academy's initiatives, the WIC·MIC (Mentor Insights Connection) is a series of salon events designed to foster cross-sector dialogue and collaboration. Each session invites industry leaders to share perspectives and innovations, providing participants with insights, inspiration, and new opportunities for collaboration.
