WIC Global Youth Leadership Program calls for applications

The World Internet Conference (WIC) has launched the Global Youth Leadership Program (GYLP). The GYLP is a brand activity of WIC international organization. It selects outstanding young people in the global internet field, closely follows the frontier trends of internet technology, industry and governance, carries out a series of youth activities around training, forums, dialogues and research, and builds an international exchange and cooperation platform for young people to learn from each other.

China implements interim measures for managing generative AI services

Interim measures for managing generative AI services unveiled by the Cyberspace Administration of China and six other departments were implemented on Aug 15. The measures define the basic concepts of this technology and establishes institutional requirements for service providers, pointing the direction for the sound development of the industry in the future.

EU plans to invest over 100 bln euros in semiconductor production

The EU plans to invest over 100 billion euros in the production of semiconductor to achieve self-sufficiency in this field.

Rapid development of digital transformation in the UAE

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is experiencing rapid development in digital transformation, with 99 percent of the total population being active internet users, according to a report of the general digital situation of the UAE released recently by the UAE Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority. 

Thinnest ever chip-level waveguide 2D emerges

Scientists from the University of Chicago have published a paper in the latest issue of journal Science, stating that they have developed the thinnest chip-level waveguide, a two-dimensional (2D) waveguide, which may open up new avenues for new technologies.

Tencent's quarterly report for the second quarter of 2023 shows that as of June 30, 2023, the combined monthly active user accounts of WeChat and its global edition reached 1.327 billion, a 2 percent year-on-year increase.

It was jointly initiated by Global System for Mobile Communication Association (GSMA), National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Center of China (CNCERT), China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), Alibaba Group, Tencent, and Zhijiang Lab.
